Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance

Synesthetic Experience.
8th – 12th Feb, 2016.

Mentor: Laura White.

Musicians: Ami Lodge: flute, Ben Richardson: Violin, Caitlin Harrison: Composition, Elizabeth Waters: Violin, Ettore Strangio: Piano, Henrike Legner: Voice (Soprano), Jimmy Cullen: Viola, Joe Crane: Piano and Kieron Smith: Composition.

Laura spent 1 week with a group of musicians as part of CoLab 2016, Trinity Laban’s two-week festival where music and dance students, staff and invited practitioners joined forces to develop ideas and make brand new work in a spirit of experimentation and collaboration. The festival culminated in a number of performances at the Laban Building, Creekside

Laura explored with the group ways of viewing and engaging with visual art in relation to music composition and playing. Discussions, workshops and a visit to Tate Modern directly fed into an experimental process that responded to visual art and rooted in their personal practice/discipline. The project combined music and light as part of an installation, and was performed as part of TOTALLY M&D: COLAB at Laban Building, Creekside on Friday 12th Feb.
